Episode 18

04.20.2023 Genesis 8.2-5 Ararat

Life comes fast and we often remain in it, missing opportunity. In the spring of 2013, I took the first major risk of my working life and left so-called stability. It had been engrained in me that a full-time job with benefits was security. In the spring of 2013, my depression became too much to bear and I needed out.

“The fountains of the deep and the windows of the heavens were closed, the rain from the heavens was restrained, and the waters receded from the earth continually. At the end of 150 days the waters had abated, and in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. And the waters continued to abate until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen” (ESV Bible, 2001, Genesis 8:2-5).

Using the flood waters presented in Genesis as a metaphor, I spent years drowning. Finally, the flood waters began to subside, but only when I took the risk and perceived it as an opportunity. My life has changed drastically since then and will never be the same.

We pray that our message today has encouraged you and that you will seek the Bible more fervently than ever. Blessing to you our brothers and sisters.

Stress is not the goal, be well.
